Anti-monarchist proprietor of fish and chip store pelted with eggs and ketchup

A proprietor of a fish and chip business who shouted “Lizard Liz is dead” while toasting the Queen’s passing with a bottle of champagne has had eggs and ketchup thrown through the restaurant windows.

Jaki Pickett, the owner of Jaki’s Fish and Chip Shop in Muir of Ord, Highlands, Scotland, was led out of her establishment by the police when vandals broke into the storefront after she put up a blackboard that stated, “London Bridge has collapsed.”

The now-deleted video of her joyfully celebrating the Queen’s death was shared by her on Facebook, but it sparked a firestorm of criticism from the community, who accused Ms. Pickett of disrespecting the late queen.

On Thursday night, police in Scotland were summoned to the business after it was attacked by irate Muir of Ord locals who egged the windows.

Pictures taken this morning showed ketchup splashed on a seat, broken eggshells on the ground, and egg muck covering the store windows.

Police surrounded the fish and chip restaurant in Muir of Ord, Highlands, Scotland, when a woman inside caused a commotion by holding up a blackboard that stated “London Bridge has collapsed” while smiling.

Social media videos show the neighbourhood encircling the restaurant on Thursday night. The restaurant’s owner, Ms. Pickett, was booed by the neighbourhood when she was spotted driving away with a police escort.

According to a Police Scotland spokeswoman, just after 8.30 p.m. on Thursday, September 8, police responded to a complaint of a large crowd assembled outside a shop in the Seaforth Road neighbourhood of Muir of Ord.

Officers stayed on the site to assure everyone’s safety, and after that, the crowd calmly dispersed.

“No more police action is necessary.”

The tweet incensed 27-year-old Muir of Ord resident David Mackay. The remarks on her Facebook page were disgusting and hostile to her, and rightfully so, he said.

I was informed that there were sizable groups outside the chip store who were protesting.

Some others sprayed tomato ketchup on the glass, while others tossed eggs at her window.

“I personally went down to check what had occurred, and the streets were crowded with cops,” the driver said.

When Jaki, the chip shop’s owner and the woman in the video, turned to leave with the police following, her vehicle was attacked with rocks and other projectiles.

The cops remained for a little longer just in case the business had any further vandalism, but none did.

“I was enraged by that.” It has damaged Muir of Ord’s reputation.

Some citizens of England may believe that we are all laughing and celebrating the death of the queen, but this is not true at all.

The Queen is an inspiration to many people, even if I’m not a fervent royalist myself.

“So many people, including myself, find warmth and solace in her Christmas addresses. You don’t have to be a supporter of the monarchy to realise and comprehend that it’s still the passing of a 96-year-old queen who did so much for the nation.

The National Federation of Fish Friers has also terminated Ms. Pickett’s membership.

The NFFF issued a statement in which it stated: “The NFFF has been made aware of social media postings made by one of our members that are exceedingly offensive and go against every principle that our organisation and sector uphold.

“We have spoken about this as a board and decided to cancel this company owner’s membership. We will be writing to them and requesting them to remove all references to the NFFF from her business, social media accounts, and websites.”

A police representative confirmed to The Press and Journal that seven officers were dispatched to the store on Thursday night.

Although a video purportedly showing Ms. Pickett leaving the store after consuming champagne hours earlier surfaced, police said there is “no allegation that a crime was committed.”

She has, however, received harsh criticism from the public as a result of social media users who have expressed their dissatisfaction with her behaviour.

One individual commented, “You do not belong to us, we want you to go.”

Another repeated, “I hope you’re out of business and run out of the Muir in the month.”

“Highlanders,” by which I mean “real genuine Highlanders,” are nice, kind, and polite individuals who choose to live here rather than merely because they were born here.

Although Ms. Pickett seems to have removed the video from Facebook, upset locals have continued to criticise the establishment online.

Peter Mcmurray wrote, “Dreadful ignorant tube of an owner… truly wish it fails.”

“Absolutely disgusting behaviour.” Disrespectful and dishonourable! Iain McNab added.

Not a shred of regard for anybody or anything except herself, Alan Hassan reiterated. Never again will I set foot in your store.
