Three days after he vanished in cold temperatures in the Snowy Mountains of New South Wales, a desperate hunt for a missing 23-year-old cross-country skier ended tragically.

Backcountry enthusiast Andrew Seton last communicated with his family in Jindabyne at 10 a.m. on Saturday, informing them that he was going skiing in Kosciuszko National Park.
In a statement released on Tuesday, NSW Police claimed a rescue aircraft spotted the body of an experienced skier on Monday afternoon, but ‘severe weather circumstances’ prevented its recovery.
The steep terrain and hazardous weather circumstances prevented both PolAir and another emergency service aircraft from landing or using winching capabilities, according to the NSW police.
A team of police officers specialized in alpine rescue has been winched to the ground and is working to recover the corpse of Mr. Seton.
Police in New South Wales think Mr. Seton, who was described as an experienced skier well-equipped for frigid weather, was travelling to Watson’s Crags.
