An armed suspect attacked the Cincinnati FBI headquarters Thursday morning

On Thursday morning, Cincinnati, Ohio’s FBI field office building seemed to be the target of an attempted attempt by an armed suspect.

State highway patrol troopers and local law enforcement officers reacted.

Although information on the incident is still developing, officials acknowledged there was still a standoff going on during a press conference in the early afternoon.

Officials had earlier said that the event started at 9 a.m.

The unidentified individual reportedly tried to enter via the tourist screening centre, setting off alarms in the process.

The FBI said that when special agents responded immediately, the suspect left and started heading north on Interstate 71, leading authorities to close a one-mile length of a neighbouring roadway and issue a lockdown alert for local homes and businesses.

Approximately 30 minutes after running away, the individual was discovered by a state trooper reversing his path to go eastward on the highway, authorities said during the briefing.

According to them, the trooper tried to start a traffic stop, but a complete chase followed.

After the pursuit was over, the suspect and police engaged in gunfire. Authorities said that no policemen had been hurt.

At the briefing, a spokeswoman added, “The scene is still active and there is still a standoff scenario unfolding.”

State and local law enforcement agencies were there and actively trying “to address this important crisis,” according to a statement from FBI Cincinnati.

Authorities made no mention of a potential reason.

The incident happened the day after FBI Director Chris Wray issued a warning over threats of violence making the rounds online after last week’s FBI search of former President Donald Trump’s Florida estate, Mar-a-Lago.
