Allegri ‘amused’ by sack rumors

Saturday in Turin, Juventus head coach Massimiliano Allegri claimed he was ‘amused’ by some fans’ calls for his dismissal after a poor start to the season.

“I’m delighted that we’re once again discussing Allegri’s departure; I’d missed it greatly. I missed it because I find it amusing “On the eve of Sunday’s Serie A match at Monza, Allegri told a press conference.

“Everyone makes mistakes, myself included, and I surely make more than the others, but we need clarity right now,” he added.

Due to injury, Juventus are sixth in Serie A and have dropped their first two Champions League matches.

“It is natural that we evaluate my work and that of the staff based on results, but I am confident and composed,” concluded Allegri, who led Juventus to five Serie A titles between 2015 and 2019 and two runners-up places in the Champions League.

The 55-year-old is in his second stint as coach of Juventus, having been dismissed in 2019 following the team’s early Champions League departure.

The former AC Milan manager returned to the Turin giants in 2021 after Maurizio Sarri and Andrea Pirlo led Juventus for two seasons.

Monza are at the bottom of Serie A with one point from six games and have just fired Giovanni Stroppa as head coach.
