After a mid-flight crisis, a WA flight transporting teenage inmates from Broome to Perth was forced to return.

Following a mid-flight incident in which one of the convicts ran towards the pilot, a charter jet carrying three juvenile detainees was forced to turn back.

According to reports, the incident happened only a few minutes into the trip on Wednesday at 2:49 p.m. from Broome, Western Australia, to Perth.

According to a statement sent to Daily Mail Australia by WA Corrective Services, five juvenile custody officers from the WA Department of Justice who were on board to accompany the 17-year-old inmates got the situation under control before arrival.

As the officers moved to bring the detainee under control, he started kicking the plane’s interior and the two other teens joined in the disturbance.

The three detainees were quickly brought under control.

The young prisoners had been in restraints at the time of the disturbance in accordance with security protocols.

There were no injuries and no damage to the plane.

Following the incident, the charter flight was forced to return back to Broome Airport.

Police arrested the main culprit for additional inquiry as soon as they arrived.

After receiving clearance, the charter aircraft flew to Perth with the remaining two inmates.

The third adolescent needed to be transported, which necessitated a second charter aircraft and more employees.

Mike Reynolds, the commissioner of corrective services, praised his team for acting quickly to conclude the event safely.
