A severe cold front is projected to make landfall across the Western Cape on Sunday, June 12th, 2022, according to the South African Weather Service (SAWS).
Strong interior winds are forecast over the Western Cape and Northern Cape, as well as significant rains in the Western Cape’s south-western mountainous areas.
IN THE CAPE PROVINCES, THERE WILL BE A COLD FRONT AND STRONG WINDS.
From Sunday to Wednesday, severe cold conditions are forecast over the Western Cape and the Namakwa District in the Northern Cape, according to the weather service.
“Very rough seas are also expected between Cape Point and Cape Agulhas on Monday,” SAWS
Other provinces’ weather forecasts:
Gauteng will be pleasant and cool, with a high UVB sunburn index expected.
Mpumalanga will be fine, with temperatures ranging from cool to cool but warm in the Lowveld.
In Limpopo, the Lowveld will be partly cloudy, but the rest of the country will be fine and cool.
The North West is also expected to be pleasant and cool.
In the Free State, morning frost is expected in the extreme south-west, but the rest of the day will be fine and cool.
The Northern Cape will be pleasant, with temperatures ranging from cool to warm. The wind will be moderately west to north-westerly along the coast.
Over the extreme western parts of the Western Cape and along the south coast, it will be partly cloudy, otherwise fine and cool, but warm along the extreme northern coastline.
The wind will be moderate to fresh south to south-westerly around the coast, but strong in parts near the south coast in the morning, according to SAWS.
‘It will become south-easterly along the west coast in the evening. The expected UVB sunburn index is low.”

The weather will be excellent and cold in the western half of the Eastern Cape, but partly cloudy along the coast and in the interior.
A strong south westerly wind will blow along the shore.
Fine and cold throughout the eastern half of the Eastern Cape, although partially cloudy in parts south of the escarpment. The wind will be fresh to strong south westerly along the coast.
KwaZulu-Natal will be fine and cool in the east, but mild in spots, with partly overcast skies in the south in the evening.
“The wind will be moderate to fresh northerly to north-westerly along the coast, becoming moderate to fresh southerly from the south in the afternoon and spreading to Charters Creek at night.” The UVB sunburn index is likely to be high.”
