A missing Carnival Cruise passenger who apparently fell overboard after a night of drinking has been located alive.

The male passenger, who was not identified, was found in the ocean by the US Coast Guard on Thanksgiving Day after going missing for more than 12 hours. He was last seen at the bar with his sister before he left to use the restroom around 11pm and did not return. His sister waited until noon the next day to report him missing

Unidentified male passenger was discovered in the water by the United States Coast Guard on Thanksgiving Day after being lost for more than 12 hours.

He was last seen in the pub with his sister about 11 p.m., when he apparently departed to use the toilet and never returned. According to KPLC 7, his sister waited until noon the following day to report him missing.

The ship was exhaustively searched for him, but he could not be located. It then began retracing its steps toward New Orleans to assist the United States Coast Guard, before being freed to resume its journey to Cozumel, Mexico.

The man’s present state is unknown, and it is uncertain how long he stayed in the water, which is around 62 degrees near New Orleans.

Carnival reportedly assisted his family throughout his disappearance. It is unknown whether or not the Coast Guard returned him to the ship.

The ship will proceed to Yucatán, Mexico, until Monday, when it will return to the United States.

The five-day cruise departed from New Orleans and arrived in Cozumel on the third day. The next day, travelers will visit a different port before returning to Louisiana.
