A man has been shot and injured by police in Melbourne’s inner north on Monday afternoon

On Monday afternoon, a man was shot by police in Melbourne’s inner north, and paramedics rushed to the scene.

At around 4.40 p.m., emergency personnel arrived at Newlands Road in Coburg North, and police continued to respond there far into the night on Monday.

Bystanders called radio station 3AW to report hearing sirens and several gunshots close to Coburg Lake Reserve.

No one else was injured in the incident, according to the police.

One caller reported hearing two loud bangs while preparing dinner, followed by three more noises around 20 seconds later.

He claimed that after that, police rushed the area quickly. According to another witness, at least seven police cars were present.

According to a statement from the police, the 64-year-old Broadmeadows resident was sought for questioning in connection with a man’s death that occurred in Albanvale on Saturday.

The individual is thought to have spotted police and fled in his car while they pursued him.

Officers pursued the suspect on foot for a little while before he confronted them brandishing a screwdriver and was shot.

Ambulance The man was treated by Victoria police at a parking lot next to the Edgars Creek Parkland before being taken to the hospital, where he is still being treated for his serious but stable condition.

Suleiman “Sam” Abdulrahim, a former member of the bikie gang, was shot and killed near Fawkner on Saturday while driving his SUV. The police were keen to distinguish Monday’s shooting from that one.

According to reports, he is in a stable condition at Royal Melbourne Hospital.

While we are still figuring out the specifics of the incident, a statement said: “We can confirm there is absolutely nothing to link it to the incident in Fawkner on Saturday.”
