A Las Vegas teacher bought a bulletproof vest for the upcoming school year because of the Uvalde shooting, report says

A Las Vegas educator expressed concern about their classroom safety.
The teacher told KVVU-TV that students are required to carry a bulletproof vest to class.
“My greatest concern is that something occurs in classroom over which I have no control,” the teacher remarked.
Something is being loaded.

According to fears, a Nevada teacher has purchased a bulletproof vest in response to the recent mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas, which left over two dozen educators dead.

In an exclusive interview with the local news station KVVV-TV, the teacher highlighted their concerns. The educator, who was not identified in the report, told the outlet that despite their active shooting training during the summer, they do not feel prepared for the new school year.

“It made me realize how hazardous it is to be in a classroom or school, and how easy it is for someone to injure students or school personnel,” the teacher told the outlet.

Additionally, the teacher stated that classmates are also considering bringing a bulletproof vest to classroom.

The teacher told KVVU-TV, “I’ve talked to other teachers who are either considering it or have already done it because we’re all afraid of that.” Therefore, if someone entered the classroom, I was expected to be the courageous one, the one who protects the kids at all costs.

The educators’ fears stem from the tragedy at Robb Elementary, in which a gunman killed shot 19 students and two educators. The shooting was one of the bloodiest in contemporary United States history.

Following the shooting, the family of the two murdered teachers, identified as Eva Mireles and Irma Garcia, stated that both had died protecting their kids.

In response to the shooting, calls for tougher gun legislation intensified. During her interview with KVVU-TV, the teacher encouraged the administration to equip the school with additional security resources.

“My greatest concern is that something will occur in the classroom over which I have no control, and someone will be hurt as a result,” the teacher told the outlet.
