A group of criminals beat a student nurse with baseball bats and metal bars before uploading a video of the vicious assault online.
There are worries that it may be the culmination of a string of assaults on Sikhs in Australia by Hindu nationalists that have echoes of violence in India.
A group of hooded males savagely attacked Rahul Kumar, 30, outside the Plus Fitness Westmead gym in Sydney’s west on Saturday afternoon as another person recorded the assault.
After working out, Mr. Kumar, a member of the Sikh charitable organisation Turbans 4 Australia, was going to get in his car when the men ambushed him and beat him viciously before fleeing.
He was left with a broken arm, eight stitches in his head, serious bruising on his legs, and a broken arm.
Kuman claimed that he is now hesitant to leave his house.
He told Seven News that “they severely beat me.”

There are worries that Mr. Kumar’s assault was politically motivated since a video of the assault was later shared on the social media site TikTok.
Amar Singh, a spokesman for Turbans 4 Australia, claimed that the incident was comparable to those that a hate organisation that targeted Indian people and believed them to be too critical of the administration of the nation carried out across western Sydney last year.
Mr. Singh remarked, “It feels like a similar gang.”
Since last year, they have operated under the same strategy of attacking unidentified individuals inside the Indian community.
I believe this gang needs to be subdued.
Police are requesting that anyone who saw the assault or who knows who the perpetrators are come forward.
