A full investigation into the killing of two Boksburg Community Corrections officials will be conducted, says the Ministry of Justice and Correctional Services

According to the Ministry of Justice and Correctional Services, a thorough inquiry will be carried out into the killings of two Boksburg Community Corrections employees.

They were looking for a parolee who had escaped when they were shot early on Tuesday morning at Duduza Township.

“We will do everything in our power, along with the SAPS, to look into this crime and find those responsible for the deaths of our personnel.

We want to make it clear that breaking the law will never be tolerable, said Ronald Lamola, minister of justice and correctional services.

The deceased’s relatives also received condolence letters from the minister.

The terrible circumstances under which such a brutal assault against our authorities was launched only serve to heighten the profound sense of loss.

The relatives of the deceased and correctional staff members have my sincere and heartfelt condolences, he said.

A state firearm was also taken during the incident, according to the department.

“The SAPS has begun investigating a homicide. According to the government, the Department of Correctional Services “must not allow nor yield to parolees absconding.”
