9ft alligator attacks man in Florida

On a Saturday night in Daytona Beach, Florida, Scott Hollingsworth opened his front door after hearing a strange noise outside. As he did so, he felt something grab his leg and start shaking violently, which he initially assumed was a dog. However, upon getting a better look, he realized that a massive alligator had been waiting on his doorstep, measuring around six or seven feet.

Hollingsworth quickly retreated inside and shut the door, only to find that he had suffered a large gash down the side of his leg. He was taken to the hospital and underwent surgery for his injuries. Thankfully, he was able to escape with non-life-threatening wounds.

After the incident, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission called an agency trapper to euthanize the alligator, which was later reported to be nine feet long. Wildlife officials noted that Hollingsworth was lucky to have avoided more serious harm from the attack.

In recent weeks, other incidents have involved alligator attacks in Florida, including the tragic death of an 85-year-old woman who was attacked and killed by an alligator at a retirement community. Despite the danger posed by these animals, many Floridians still enjoy activities such as Daytona Bike Week, although Hollingsworth may have to sit this year out due to his injuries.
