The body of an old dogwalker was dragged five kilometres along a seaside road in Italy after she was struck by a car and killed.
Saturday evening near Marzocca on Italy’s eastern coast, Sigrid Tschope, 81, was struck while walking her dog.
The German woman, who relocated to Italy many years ago, was initially struck while crossing the street by a vehicle whose driver stopped quickly to render aid.

Then, presumably while attempting to save her dog, a second SUV struck her and failed to stop, entangling her corpse in its wheels.
The vehicle kept driving for approximately eight minutes and five kilometers to Senigallia, where her body was discovered on the side of the road.
Despite the heavy rain and low visibility, the driver of the second vehicle never stopped.

Ms. Tschope’s body was discovered by a driver who alerted the police just minutes after they were notified that a dead dog had been discovered outside the Marzocca train station, lying next to one of Ms. Tschope’s shoes.
It is believed that the driver of the SUV is a 61-year-old man from the nearby town of Jesi.
The initial driver of the van is also being investigated
