50-student school bus in Dorset erupts into flames and smoke

This horrible scene occurred when youngsters as young as nine yelled and pleaded to get off a school bus that was carrying 50 students.

Before other drivers flashed their lights to warn him, the driver was unaware that the bottom of the single-decker bus was on fire.

Students can be seen exiting a bus in Dorchester, Dorset, and scrambling for cover in case the vehicle catches fire in the video.

Before firemen arrived ten minutes later, one individual was observed attempting to douse the flames with a fire extinguisher.

Emergency personnel used a hose line to put out the fire while wearing breathing apparatus.

When the fire started, the bus, run by Damory Coaches, was transporting students from the Thomas Hardye School and Dorchester Middle School home.

With the aid of bystanders, all of the children successfully exited the bus.

It came to a halt at Charlton Down, close to Dorchester, and the fire department were there in less than 10 minutes.

Parents expressed their displeasure over reports that the same car had recently broken down and been seen “smoking.”

The bus’s eight-year-old boy’s mother “My kid was seated at the rear of the bus and his buddy began yelling that they needed to get off the bus,” Rachael Loco said.

They could see the smoke, and as soon as the other children realised what was going on, they immediately screamed and shouted.

They had to go via the front where they could see the smoke and flames since no one knew how to utilise the rear exit.

They said that residents were ready to assist, with one even running over with a fire extinguisher, and that vehicles behind the bus had been flashing to get it to stop.

“My son said that the bus had been smoking when they arrived at school a few days before, and it had broken down the morning of the fire.

I just find myself wondering, “What if it had blown up?

“I also picked up my neighbor’s kids, and they were all traumatised and anxious thereafter.”

To say that I’m disappointed would be an understatement; all I can think about is how different things may have turned out.

When I arrived, several of the kids were crying and appeared surprised, according to another parent, Laura Foot.

“My daughter no longer wants to board the bus again.”

My daughter was terrified when stranded in the rear of the bus and unsure of how to get off, so I’m curious about the evacuation procedures that the bus drivers and kids are taught.

‘I can confirm there was a fire on one of our coaches, taking students from Thomas Hardye School and Dorchester Middle School,’ said Alex Chutter, general manager of Damory Coaches. On board, no one was hurt.

Our first concern is the safety of our drivers and passengers, therefore we are starting an emergency inquiry to find out what exactly happened.

We secured a substitute coach to take everyone on board to their next location and are sorry for the inconvenience.

The bus had a fire in its engine compartment when two crews were called at 4 p.m. yesterday (Thurs), according to the Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service.
