2023: Umeh Optimistic APGA Will Secure All Legislative Seats In Anambra

The former National chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA, Senator Victor Umeh, has harped on the need for APGA as the ruling party in the state to secure all the legislative seats both at the national and state level in the coming general election.

 

He emphasized that such situation will enthrone a more peaceful political atmosphere which will enable the state governor perform more effectively for the progress of Anambra state.

Correspondent Valentine Mbadugha reports that Senator Umeh who stated this during a consultative meeting with Awka North Local Government APGA stakeholders maintained that effective synergy between all arms of government is important for any government to function smoothly and adequately.

 

He added that common interest is key to sustainable growth and development of any society maintaining that Ndi Anambra should always support leaders with vision.

 

Speaking on the consultative meeting held at Amanuke, Senator Umeh said that the clarion call on him to run for senate once again to represent Anambra Central Senatorial District by different individuals, political and nonpolitical groups necessitated the meeting.

He said that he will make decision after consulting with the seven local government areas under Anambra Central and called on Ndi Anambra to keep supporting APGA for the good of the state and the entire Igbo nation.

 

On his part, the Transition Committee Chairman of Awka North local government area, Mr. Ferdinand Onuje who also agreed that APGA securing  all the legislative seats will reduce distractions and political instability, harped on the need for competence to be the benchmark of choosing the lawmakers.

 

He said that interest of the people should override any individual interest which was why the people of Awka North also lent their voice to call on senator Umeh whom they know his capacity to step up and contest, assuring their unalloyed support.

 

A former House of Assembly member, Honourable Boniface Okonkwo during the meeting moved a motion that Senator Umeh should accept the call to serve his constituency come 2023 at the red chambers of the national assembly.

 

the motion was seconded by another former lawmaker, Honourable Rebecca Udoji, as the people supported the motion through a voice vote.

 

Stakeholders present at the event which took place at Amanuke, include, Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters Chief Chikodi Anara, the state Auditor of APGA, Mr. Nchekwube Tony Dunga, party ward and local government executives, traditional rulers, community leaders among other.
